This year’s Since 2004, New German Photography (German: gute aussichten – junge deutsche Fotografie) has been recognizing outstanding final projects from German universities and academies. Bringing together two award years, the exhibition presents works by 13 prizewinners of this renowned award for graduates in photography.

At PHOXXI, the Temporary House of Photography at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, these positions are introduced to a broad audience while opening up new perspectives on the photographic medium. The participating artists explore themes such as cultural multiplicity, urban tensions, mental states, as well as digital and generative image worlds.

Their works demonstrate a wide range of artistic strategies and techniques, revealing photography in a particularly dynamic form: images move through space, detach from their material supports, and unfold in time before the viewer. The expansive exhibition architecture of PHOXXI provides a framework for installation-based and large-scale works, including previously unseen and newly developed productions.
